Since FurAffinity has taken its annual dump (thanks DDOS) and may be down for an indeterminate amount of time, it's my responsibility to keep you informed about the league as Vice Pres of League Ops.
Ketch says he nuked the site, and to "#blamejameis"...
We'll continue to update things as per usual on the Wiki, here on the forums, and to those who follow Twitter messages and the Skype chat. You can continue to get information about the league on the Blogspot site as well.
The only really pertinent thing that is affected by outages on FA is a way to communicate private messages or share content to those of you who are not the GM of a team. Here on the UFFL Forum, can serve as the secondary option during this time - the forum site hosts photographs and most of the updates that we have been sending.
NOW! That I have your attention... there are a couple things I would like to get communicated...
----
Injuries:
This has been a season-long agony for some players and GMs. The algorithm that calculated injuries was changed so that there would be less of them, and shorter lengths. However, going forward:
- Players who suffer an injury and are not removed from the starting lineup will be downgraded in the simulator. To elaborate, a veteran player is ranked an '85' out of '100' overall in the simulator - this is consistent across every team. If he/she suffers an injury and is not replaced by a healthy player, they will be downgraded to '75' (1 wk injury) or '65' (2 wk+ injury) overall, depending on the length/injury severity. This provides incentive to get someone "healthy" in the lineup, but doesn't **require** action to be taken for those who are busy and cannot make changes to their rosters. If you wish to take the risk and leave a player with a 1-week injury in your lineup (a '75'), then go right ahead. In summary, you can still win a game with injuries in your lineup, but it becomes much less likely.
Statistics:
Ideally, it should be easier for anyone to access statistics about players and how they compare to the rest of the league (so you can make comparisons and decisions about how to act in response to others, or for GMs to change coaching strategies.) I'm personally spending most of this week revamping the process of collecting these stats so that we can host a filterable/sortable table of player statistics on the Wiki site. This will take at least a few days more to set up, so sit tight! GMs: If you ask nicely, I can make recommendations for improvements to your team based on the stats I'm seeing. ;3
----
I can be reached via email at faffmanagement@gmail.com (again, pay no attention to the FAFF logo - we are, indeed, the UFFL) - and through the other sites we use. I hope you have been enjoying it all thus far! We have heard great things from other leagues and members of the community, so we are focusing most of our energy internally on improving what is already existing. We continue to crank out content on the daily, so check us out and join us in making this league grow!
